This project helps promote sustainable agricultural and food security in Rwanda through ensuring participatory, transparent and accountable district planning and budgeting

Area of Intervention
Huye District

Funded by Alert International, IE4C Project supports farmers’ participation and engagement in the agricultural planning and budgeting process, we hope to ensure more ownership over agricultural development programmes in the country.

We are also empowering local civil society organisations and farmers’ cooperatives to more effectively influence the implementation of agricultural and food security policies at the local government level.

In addition, we are supporting young people in rural communities to understand how decisions in agricultural policy are made, and to equip them with the skills required to play a bigger role in determining the political and economic future of their country.

Time frame
This is a three-year project, which began in January 2016.
